Un-Super App | iOS XCFrameworks & Public API Approach | Digitally focused large enterprises need seamless experiences unlike Super Apps

Super App, coined by the Blackberry founder, was an answer to many large technology companies to build a ‘closed eco-system’ of different applications or ‘unrelated’ use cases that could be used on a single interface.

User Context and marketplace scale (supply/demand) were the reasons why some Super Apps were successful.

On the other hand, if you are a Fortune 500, supply/demand is not the motivation. It is still the context (of the customer), but the focus should be on seamlessly integrating related but distinct services, without users realizing they are working together behind the scenes.

Elon Musk’s X becoming Super App is widely talked about and challenged, the enterprise un-Super App is the Tesla App.

To be clear, this comparison is not about “good” vs. “bad” — I am just saying there are 2 ways to think about “Super Apps” that have multiple related or closed ecosystem features. Enterprises need to take the best of what SuperApps have to offer and learn from them.
