If you have blinked you might have missed SpringOne 2020 online.

If you are a tenured JEE developer, you might have heard of SpringOne conferences in general and might have watched videos from previous years.

A couple of logistical niceties this year:

  1. All online
  2. You could use the DVR mode on sessions, which was awesome!
  3. While there was a bit of “VMware” wrapped around, understandably (first since the acquisition, if I am correct), but the core was very much maintained, focused on Spring ecosystem and Cloud migration
  4. You could watch all the sessions online starting Sep 10th here and register to get notified (or wait for things to show up on YouTube channel)

OK, let’s wrap up the summary:

Financial Services (let me get this out of the way):

Fiserv (multiple), Tesco Bank, Nothern Trust, Ameritrade, and Morgan Stanley had sessions. It is nice to see a good percentage of women participation in these organizations!

7 Key takeaways:

  1. Self-paced workshops will be made available soon here.
  2. Introductions / Major upgrades to Spring Framework 5.3, Spring Cloud Flow, Azure Cloud starter, Tanzu/Kubernetes, Spring Cloud…
